For example, I want to answer peglowjp and I cannot get "UNDER" that post. The only time students can respond directly to someone is NOT under discussion -- which I think is important as a teacher. But to answer your question Jen -- I start tomorrow explaining it to students. What I have read so far, there is a permissions section, but it does not discriminate on content. Let you know more next week.","dateCreated":"1264464796","smartDate":"Jan 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"mcan","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mcan","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1301497056\/mcan-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"19286795","body":"This might be a little off topic, but speaking of discussions...I used Edmodo with my students to do a class discussion and it worked really well. They enjoyed being able to respond to my question without answering out loud. I also gave them a poll where they were able to pick an answer and then everyone could view the results. It is also nice because students can send a private post just to me so that the entire class cannot view it. Edmodo also has the ability to post assignments, but I haven't used that yet. I just wanted to share that and see if anyone else had tried that in your classroom.","dateCreated":"1264470323","smartDate":"Jan 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"laura_redding","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/laura_redding","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1263762995\/laura_redding-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"19296277","body":"That's great Laura! I am going to play Devil's advocate here: How is Edmodo different than SW? I have done the discussions in SW and students can send messages to teachers only as well. Assignments can be posted and completed in SW. Again - I am just taking the devil's side! I think it is great that the kids were into it :) Maybe you can show me how you did some stuff and I can give it a try too :)","dateCreated":"1264507580","smartDate":"Jan 26, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"peglowjp","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/peglowjp","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1267297176\/peglowjp-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"19724299","body":"I have used both the discussion and the chat for my class when Eric Erb came in. With both, the kids were pretty excited to use them! Back to the wikis, though, Steph you said that the kids needed to have email addresses. That is the same way with a lot of products that could be beneficial to the students. Can we give them an email through the school? Does SW have an email to the outside world capability?","dateCreated":"1265250824","smartDate":"Feb 3, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"nstarner","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/nstarner","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"19734531","body":"Studywiz email does not have outside studywiz capability. That is one of the great things about it...completely "safe". There is an email possibility with Gaggle. It is email through Google that has many safety features built in, like monitoring and the ability for us to delete inappropriate email. I would love to open that up to students, but I am very concerned about the 9th grade's level of responsibility at this point. Is Gaggle email something we only offer upper classmen? What about classes then with mixed grade levels. I'm going to start a whole new page devoted to this topic.","dateCreated":"1265288874","smartDate":"Feb 4, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"scramer90","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/scramer90","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1270470116\/scramer90-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"19965865","body":"Nicole -- the students don't need external email addresses to use a wiki.","dateCreated":"1265735946","smartDate":"Feb 9, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"mcan","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mcan","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1301497056\/mcan-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"22314325","body":"All, are we ready to set up a meeting?
