I am back and forth on this but personally I cannot read, understand, or speak spanish yet I do have some ELL students who would benefit from conversing with peers in a friendly yet academic way.  However, I would not be able to monitor this and it would be a great concern. Certainly a teacher could argue that any posts in Spanish would not be easy to monitor...we could employ someone to check on the Spanish posts from time to time.  But the argument of ESOL students being able to communicate with each other is also a good argument.  I would suggest that maybe the argument should be similar to this:  if the wiki is created in an English speaking classroom the content will all be in English.  This way all of the students can benefit from what is posted.  If the ESOL students need accommodations, then translations can be made.
